Speech and Language Therapy
Overview
The Speech and Language Therapy team at Great Ormond Street Hospital provide a specialist service for children with disorders of communication and feeding.
The speech and language therapists within the team work with children who have difficulties with speech, or with eating, drinking and swallowing.
Therapists within the service are actively involved in research and clinical audit projects, and share findings in journal publications and through education and training at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Outcomes
We received 84 completed questionnaires for the month-long survey period in 2018. 98 per cent of families rated the service as answering their questions ‘5 - very well’ (85.5 per cent) or ‘4 - well’ (12.5 per cent). Fewer than two per cent of families rated the service as answering their questions as ‘3 – okay’; ‘2 – not well’, or ‘1 – not very well’. This year’s results showed a consistent level of ratings from studies done in 2016 and 2014, with over 90 per cent of families rating questions at 5 or 4 across all three years.
