Temporary closure of GOSH main entrance: 30 November and 1 December 2023
On Thursday 30 November and Friday 1 December 2023, the main entrance to Great Ormond Street Hospital will be closed between 8am and 6pm. Everyone coming to the hospital will need to use alternative entrances.
Emergency ambulances and patients arriving by trolley will use Powis Place, as now.
Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, the Princess Royal Nurses Home and Octav Botnar Wing entrances can be used by all.
There are no changes to the entrance for the Zayed Centre for Research (Falcon outpatients), the Sight and Sound Centre and the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.
Entrances that can be used during this time
You can use entrances A, B and E shown on the map and listed below to access the main hospital. There will be a new reception area near to entrance A.
Volunteers and reception colleagues will be on hand to direct you to your appointment.

The temporary entrance will be:
- Entrance A will be from the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1EH
- Entrance B will be from the Princess Royal Nurses Home, 37 to 46 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1EH
- Entrance E will be from the Octav Botnar Wing, 81 Lambs Conduit Street, London, WC1N 3NB
Please note, access to the hospital via the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building Entrance is through the Lagoon restaurant.
If you wish to avoid the restaurant, please use entrance B instead.
Entrances that won't be effected and remain the same, include:
- Entrance C, Sight and Sound, 40 to 41 Queen Square, London, WC1N 3AJ
- Entrance D the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, 60 Great Ormond Street, London, WC1N 3HR
- Entrance F the Zayed Centre for Research (Falcon Outpatients), 20 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1DZ
Patients with appointments or inpatient stays
Patients with appointments or inpatient stays on these days are being updated about this change by letter and text message, including information and maps of the alternative entrances.
My GOSH is also being updated and patient transport drop-offs will be changed as needed.
Travelling to GOSH during this time
The best way to travel to GOSH is by public transport.
If you need to drive, please be aware that parking near the hospital can be difficult.
If eligible, parking permits can be collected from the reception in the Lagoon restaurant, near to entrance A of the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building.
You can also collect permits from Zayed Centre for Research, Falcon Outpatients reception.
Children's Cancer Centre
Closing the entrance for two days will help us test and prepare for the works to develop our Children’s Cancer Centre starting in 2024 as this requires the closure of the main entrance for around four years.
