NIHR GOSH Clinical Research Facility celebrates International Clinical Trials Day

22/05/2025

On Tuesday 20 May we celebrated International Clinical Trials Day in the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) GOSH Clinical Research Facility (CRF).

International Clinical Trials Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the amazing staff, researchers, patients and families who take part in clinical trials at GOSH.

GOSH ran 196 clinical trials in 2024/25, with 3747 participants recruited to research projects in the same year.

We welcomed patients, families, and staff from across the hospital for an afternoon of interactive activities run by our research, pharmacy, Children and Young People’s Health Resource (D-CYPHR) and lab colleagues such as bracelet making, chocolate and skittle experiments, and colouring in. GOSH Arts treated us to a musical performance and we were visited by therapy dogs Bailey and Dr Ted.

The event is one year since the launch of the new CRF on the eighth floor of the Southwood building.

Claire O’Neill, Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Manager for the NIHR GOSH Clinical Research Facility said:

“International Clinical Trials Day is an opportunity to celebrate the amazing contribution to clinical trials that takes place at GOSH, both in the CRF and across the hospital. We are thrilled we got to bring everyone together in the facility to celebrate the day and teach our patients, families and staff about the importance of clinical trials in a fun and engaging way."

We want to say a big thank you to everyone who attended the event!
