Dr Aparna Hoskote
Overview
Dr Aparna Hoskote completed her paediatric intensive care medicine training in India, UK and Canada. She is a Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Intensivist at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), which is a quaternary referral centre for children with congenital heart disease, and a nationally commissioned centre for Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), mechanical bridge to transplantation, cardiothoracic transplantation, primary pulmonary hypertension and tracheal disease.
Dr Hoskote is an Honorary Lecturer at the University College London (UCL) Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and leads on a theme of neuromonitoring, neuroprotection and neurodevelopmental outcome in children with heart disease and those supported on extracorporeal life support (ECLS). Her research focus is to establish measures to identify neurological impairment and neurodisability before and after major cardiac surgery, to establish structured follow-up for ECLS survivors and to study cerebral oximetry as an early marker of brain ischaemia. She has expertise in clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement within paediatric cardiac intensive care.
Dr Hoskote is a member of the Paediatric Intensive Care Society (PICS), UK and is on the Mechanical Circulatory Support Task Force of ESPNIC (European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care).
