Celebrating our Ward Stars!

30/01/2025

At the International and Private Care directorate we have outstanding and professional staff members who give their best every day. To acknowledge the exemplary work they do, we launched a quarterly staff recognition award back in June 2024 focusing on the Caterpillar, Butterfly, Bumblebee, and Hedgehog wards.

The award sees winners being chosen in September, December, March, and June. This initiative celebrates the outstanding efforts and contributions of our colleagues, honouring their dedication to their roles. It also highlights the importance of teamwork, recognising the collective efforts of all staff members who work together to deliver the best results. Meet this quarter’s winners:

Caterpillar: Amina Akthar

Amina is a shining example of GOSH values. She is always welcoming to families and staff which is something that makes families comfortable and at ease upon their visits to the ward.

Whether it is finding room space on the "snakes and ladders board" on Caterpillar, sourcing contact numbers, chivvying people along, or simply inviting families to access the fruit basket, Amina does it all with a smile and is always helpful to anyone in the department.

''No task seems too small for her. She has excellent communication and organisation skills, an expert in her job role and missed when she is not around. She openly shares her knowledge and teaches other members of the team during her day. Amina is the link that makes the team work as one."

"Amina is an absolute example of the embodiment of  the GOSH values: each and every day she is smiley and happy. She welcomes all of our families with lots of kindness and all the families love her. She has built great relationships with our patients and they radiate to her. Her knowledge of Caterpillar and how the clinic runs is amazing! She is such an integral part of the team".
