Overview
Dr Anna Martinez is the Specialty Lead of the Paediatric Dermatology Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Institute of Child Health, University College London. Anna’s private practice is based at Great Ormond Street and The Portland Hospital for Women and Children.
Anna trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and was appointed as a Consultant in Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital in January 2003. Since her appointment Anna has led the Nationally Commissioned Highly Specialist Service for Epidermolysis Bullosa and is a world leader in the management of skin fragility diseases. Anna runs the paediatric dermatology service at GOSH and manages children with any skin condition. She set up and runs a combined allergy/dermatology service at GOSH.
Dr Martinez was nominated Colleague of the Year at GOSH in 2018 and voted in the Top Three Doctors for the NHS Health Hero Awards 2018. Anna has over 45 peer-reviewed publications on aspects of paediatric dermatology and has written chapters for the major dermatological textbooks.
Anna is a major contributor to research in the field of paediatric dermatology, she is Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator on a rolling programme of clinical trials into novel therapies in paediatric dermatology. She frequently lectures nationally and internationally.
