Neurophysiology

Neurophysiology is a branch of physiology, the study of how the body works, concerned with the brain and nervous system. 

A variety of methods are used to measure how the brain and nervous system are working, the results of which are then used to make diagnoses and plan treatment. 

The Neurophysiology department at Great Ormond Street Hospital carries out a wide range of neurophysiological investigations. These include electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies, EEG-video telemetry. We also monitor patients in intensive care and during complex surgical operations (intra-operative monitoring).
