Mr Francis Calder trained in transplant, laparoscopic and vascular access surgery at Guy's and St George's Hospitals in London. He was appointed a consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in 2005 and is the lead transplant surgeon on the team.  

He sits on the council of the Vascular Access Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the NHS Blood and Transplant Kidney Advisory Paediatric sub group. He is a member of the court of examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) England.
